Summer Camps

The Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras (ESYO) is pleased to invite young musicians to join our specialized summer programs, designed to maintain musical momentum during the break. Our camps provide a focused, high-energy environment where students can refine their technique and build lasting connections within a supportive musical community. We welcome all young instrumentalists to participate—prior participation in ESYO programs is not required to join these sessions.

We are offering several half-day camps throughout the summer. Your student will benefit from professional coaching and immersive ensemble playing. In culmination of the students’ efforts throughout the camp week, each camp session ends with a celebratory free concert, which is open to family and friends. (Camper attendance is required).

We look forward to a summer of growth, teamwork, and exceptional music-making!

Strings Camp – $150

Grade Level: 4th – 7th Grade

Experience: 1+ year(s) or completion of String Academy 1 or 2.

String Camp is the perfect space for young musicians to maintain their progress and stay inspired over the summer. By combining fundamental skill-building with games and group playing, we provide a vibrant, positive environment where students stay inspired and excited to keep playing.

  • Expert Instruction: Work in small sections with professional coaches to refine posture, bow technique, and core fundamentals.
  • Ensemble Excellence: Experience the joy of orchestral playing as students learn to follow a conductor and blend with their violin, viola, cello, and bass peers.
  • Skill Building & Note Reading: We focus on strengthening musical foundations and improving literacy through engaging games and activities.
  • Exciting Repertoire: We introduce students to a range of music that captures their imagination and keeps them motivated to explore new genres and styles.
  • Community & Connection: Beyond the notes, students build lasting friendships and social skills in a supportive, group-centered environment.

Chamber Camp – $180

Grade Level: 7th – 12th Grade

Experience: 3+ years (Intermediate to Advanced). Recommended for current members of Little Symphony, Junior Orchestra, or Youth Symphony.

Chamber Camp moves away from the large orchestra and places musicians in small chamber ensembles like trios and quartets. This is a unique environment where you are often the only person playing your part, challenging you to increase your confidence, independence, and develop deep listening skills.

  • Chamber Strings & Winds: Open to all string, woodwind, and brass players.
  • Artistic Independence: Being the only person on your part fast-tracks your ability to take ownership of your music, developing the confidence and deep-listening skills needed to lead within a group.
  • Technical Growth & Mastery: Build the confidence to play in more challenging key signatures. Our repertoire is selected to help string students master technical fundamentals like shifting, multiple positions, and expanded range.
  • Advanced Musical Repertoire: Discover challenging and rewarding pieces chosen to push your technical boundaries and expand your expressive range as a performer.

Registration Deposit: A $50 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your student’s place. To participate, we ask that all family accounts be in good standing with any previous season balances cleared.

Payment Options: During registration, you may choose one of two payment methods:

Pay in Full: Pay the entire tuition amount at the time of registration.
Installment Plan: Split your remaining balance into two payments:

  • Initial Deposit: $50 due at registration.
  • First Installment: Due the 15th of the month before your camp begins.
  • Final Installment: Due the 1st of the month your camp begins.

Please note: If you register after the first installment date has passed, both the deposit and the first installment will be due at the time of purchase.
